Black Hawk’s MasterBreeders Program matters.

The original Black Hawk recipe was developed when a passionate breeder applied the real food movement to their dog’s diet.

Welcome to the Black Hawk MasterBreeders Program

The original Black Hawk recipe was developed when a passionate breeder simply applied this thinking to their dog’s diet. They relentlessly searched for ingredients that had a nutritional benefit and removed all of the ones that didn’t. Other breeders quickly embraced the Black Hawk recipe for success. They could see shinier coats and happier, healthier dogs. The movement grew organically and soon the Black Hawk story was being passed from owner to owner and expanded to include cats too.

Since Black Hawk joined the Masterpet family our commitment to real food is stronger than ever. With the Black Hawk MasterBreeders Program we recognise the need for registered breeders to have reliable access to the highest quality, Australian made food that offers value for money and delivery straight to your door.

I applied to be a Black Hawk MasterBreeder a few days ago & have not heard anything as yet?

We can help you with that if you call us on 0800 PETLINE or email [email protected]

How can I get free delivery?

Orders are eligible for free delivery when you purchase over $250 from the MasterBreeder Online Store.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Our courier company estimates around 3 – 5 working days. However, if you are rural, it can take up to 8 working days.

My order has arrived damaged or incomplete. What should I do?

If you still have questions then please get in touch.

At what age do I change my puppies over from Puppy to Adult food?

Each breed is different depending on its size and weight. We recommend that small to medium sized breeds can transition from around 12 months of age and large to giant breeds from 18 months to 2 years.

Can I feed Black Hawk straight away, or should I introduce it gradually?

We recommend transition your pets from other foods to Black Hawk foods gradually over a 7 day period. More information here.

How do I know how much to feed?

Each breed is different, as is each individual animal, depending on its size, weight and activeness. There is an easy to follow guide on each bag of Black Hawk, and we have measuring cups to ensure standard recommendations. If you find you’re having issues with your animals putting on weight, or losing weight, use this as your guide to increase or decrease the amount of food.

How does the Black Hawk MasterBreeder Litter Support work?

Once your litter has been born, purchase a large bag of Puppy (10kg, 15kg or 20kg) or Kitten food (minimum 3kg bag) through the MasterBreeder Online Store.

Keep a note of the order number, then complete the Litter Support Form here. Once processed, we will send you a replica bag of puppy or kitten food, plus Puppy/Kitten packs.

Litter Support free bag offer can be applied for up until 2 months after the litter is born & is available once only per litter.

The litter support form should be completed within 3 working days of ordering your qualifying bag of Puppy/Kitten food (as shown on the form). There is a maximum of 10 Puppy/Kitten Packs per litter and all packs must be passed onto the new owners.

What are the sources of chondroitin & glucosamine, and how are they added to the product?

Chondroitin & glucosamine are found naturally in the ingredients used in Black Hawk and are also added to the Black Hawk Original and Grain Free Dog recipes.

The meat, such as chicken meal or lamb meal is a source of chondroitin. The added chondroitin is derived from beef cartilage and the glucosamine comes from shell fish.

Are the ingredients listed in the product by wet weight or dry weight?

We always use dehydrated mass in our calculations of percentage of inclusion of ingredients in our recipes. All ingredients are dried and concentrated which helps them to withstand the cooking temperatures in the extrusion process.
